Airbnb Policy Changes: Your Input Needed | Lunch & Learn Nov. 5

Dear Sonoma County Hosts,
INPUT AND ACTION NEEDED. We want to hear from Sonoma County Hosts and Affiliated Businesses.
Like many of you we were blindsided by Airbnb's House Rules, ID, Rental Agreement, and Phone Number Policy Changes.
We are against most of what was announced, and you can read our OPEN LETTER to Airbnb below.
OPEN LETTER TO AIRBNB LEADERSHIP
Your property. Your responsibilities. But will you still have the tools you need to host responsibly?
We also fear that is has greater impact on the safety and cohesiveness of Sonoma County communities and we have already written to the Board of Supervisors alerting them of our concerns.
Join the Sonoma County Coalition of Hosts for a Lunch & Learn Q&A webinar to discuss these concerns, share experiences, and help shape our next steps.
What we’ll discuss
- House rules: Preserving reasonable, property-specific expectations for safety, occupancy, parking, noise, and neighborhood respect.
- Rental agreements and guest identification: Concerns about restrictions, accountability, and the safeguards hosts rely on.
- Guest phone numbers: Questions about dependable communication, particularly during emergencies and at rural properties.
- The coalition’s response: Our open letter, Airbnb’s responses so far, and opportunities for hosts to make their voices heard.
Bring your lunch—and your questions
Have you received a policy notice, had a rule flagged, or encountered a situation that illustrates these concerns? Bring your example. Your experience can help us identify practical issues and strengthen our collective response.
We’ll share what we know, distinguish confirmed information from unanswered questions, and discuss where further clarification from Airbnb is still needed.
Join us on Zoom
Thursday, November 5 | 12:00 p.m. Pacific
Meeting ID: 928 8427 0427
Passcode: 1234
We look forward to a constructive conversation about protecting guests, supporting responsible hosts, and making our collective voice heard.
Warm regards,
